नागपंचमी — Nag Panchami in Marathi for Kids
भारतात नागाला देव मानतात. नाग हे भगवान शंकराच्या गळ्यात असतात. भगवान विष्णू शेषनागावर झोपतात. म्हणून नागाला खूप महत्त्व आहे.
एक पुराणकथा आहे — एका शेतकऱ्याने नाग मारला. त्या नागाच्या मुलांनी बदला घेण्याचा विचार केला. पण शेतकऱ्याच्या मुलीने नागाची माफी मागितली, दूध दिले. नागांनी शेतकऱ्याच्या कुटुंबाला आशीर्वाद दिला.
याशिवाय, श्रावण महिना हा पावसाळ्याचा महिना आहे. पावसात नाग त्यांच्या बिळातून बाहेर येतात. त्यांना त्रास होऊ नये म्हणून आणि त्यांनी आपल्याला दुखवू नये म्हणून आपण त्यांची पूजा करतो.
नागपंचमीच्या दिवशी नागाला दूध देतात, फुले वाहतात, पूजा करतात. श्रावण शुद्ध पंचमीला हा सण येतो — म्हणजे श्रावण महिन्याच्या पाचव्या दिवशी.
हा सण आपल्याला सांगतो — सगळ्या प्राण्यांचा आदर करा. निसर्गातील प्रत्येक प्राणी महत्त्वाचा आहे!
Why we celebrate: In India the snake is considered sacred — Lord Shiva wears a serpent around his neck and Lord Vishnu rests on the thousand-headed Shesha serpent.
One legend tells of a farmer who accidentally killed a snake. The snake’s children planned revenge. But the farmer’s daughter sought forgiveness, offered milk. The snakes blessed the family instead.
श्रावण (July/August) is monsoon season — snakes come out of their flooded burrows. To show respect and avoid harm, people worship snakes on this day.
On Nag Panchami, snakes are offered milk and flowers. It falls on the 5th day (panchami) of the bright fortnight of Shravan month.
The festival teaches: respect all living creatures. Every animal in nature has a role — even snakes protect farmers by eating crop-destroying rats!
नागपंचमीच्या दिवशी विहानला एक प्रश्न पडला होता — “आई, आपण नागाला का पूजतो? नाग तर चावतो ना?”
आई हसली. तिने विहानला हात धरून शेतात नेले. “बघ,” आईने सांगितले — “हे उंदीर शेताचे धान्य खातात. आणि हे नाग उंदीर खातात. म्हणजे नाग आपल्या शेताचे रक्षण करतात!”
विहानला आश्चर्य वाटले. “म्हणजे नाग आपले मित्र आहेत?”
“हो!” आई म्हणाली. “पण मित्राची काळजी घ्यायला हवी. नागपंचमीला आपण त्याला दूध देतो, फुले वाहतो — आभार मानतो.”
संध्याकाळी विहान आणि आईने मिळून नागाच्या प्रतिमेची पूजा केली. विहानने स्वतः दूध ठेवले. “नागोबा, तुम्ही आमच्या शेताचे रक्षण करता — आभार!”
त्या रात्री विहानने मनात ठरवले — “मी कधीच प्राण्यांना त्रास देणार नाही. प्रत्येक प्राणी या पृथ्वीचा भाग आहे.” 🐍🌿
On Nag Panchami, Vihan had a question — “Mother, why do we worship snakes? They bite, don’t they?”
Mother took him to the field. “Look,” she said. “Rats eat our crops. Snakes eat the rats. So snakes protect our harvest!”
Vihan was surprised. “So snakes are our friends?”
“Yes! And we must care for our friends. On Nag Panchami we offer them milk and flowers — to say thank you.”
In the evening Vihan and his mother worshipped the snake’s image. Vihan placed the milk himself. “Nagoba, you protect our fields — thank you!”
That night Vihan decided — “I will never harm animals. Every creature is part of this earth.” 🐍🌿

बाबा नागोबाला नमस्कार करतात. बहीण रांगोळी काढते.
आजी नागपंचमीची गोष्ट सांगतात. आम्ही लक्षपूर्वक ऐकतो.
“सर्पराज नमो नमः” — आम्ही सगळे म्हणतो.
