गुढीपाडवा — Gudi Padwa in Marathi for Kids
गुढीपाडवा हा मराठी नववर्षाचा पहिला दिवस आहे. चैत्र महिन्याच्या पहिल्या दिवशी हा सण साजरा होतो.
पुराणकाळी ब्रह्मदेवाने या दिवशी सृष्टीची निर्मिती केली असे सांगतात. म्हणून हा दिवस सृष्टीचा जन्मदिवस मानला जातो.
याशिवाय, भगवान श्रीराम लंकेतून विजयी होऊन परत आले त्यावेळी अयोध्येच्या लोकांनी गुढ्या उभारल्या होत्या असेही सांगतात.
छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराज यांनी शत्रूवर विजय मिळवल्यानंतर महाराष्ट्रात गुढ्या उभारण्याची परंपरा सुरू झाली असेही म्हटले जाते. विजयाचे प्रतीक म्हणून गुढी उभारतात.
गुढी म्हणजे विजय, आनंद आणि नवीन सुरुवात यांचे प्रतीक आहे. नवीन वर्षाची सुरुवात उत्साहाने करण्यासाठी गुढीपाडवा साजरा करतो!
Why we celebrate: Gudi Padwa is the first day of the Marathi New Year — the first day of the Chaitra month.
According to ancient texts, Lord Brahma created the universe on this day — making it the birthday of creation itself.
It is also said that when Lord Ram returned victorious from Lanka, the people of Ayodhya raised Gudhis (victory flags) to welcome him.
In Maharashtra’s history, it is also associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s victories — people raised Gudhis to celebrate his triumphs over enemies.
The Gudhi is a symbol of victory, joy and new beginnings. We celebrate Gudi Padwa to start the new year with energy and hope!
गुढीपाडव्याच्या सकाळी सई लवकर उठली. बाहेर आनंदाची गडबड होती. शेजारच्या घरावर गुढी उभारलेली होती.
“आजोबा, आपल्या घरी गुढी कधी उभारणार?” सईने विचारले. आजोबा हसले — “आधी ये, मला मदत कर.”
आजोबांनी बांबूची काठी आणली. सईने आंब्याची पाने आणली. आईने रेशमी कापड गुंडाळले. बाबांनी कलश वर ठेवला. शेवटी सगळ्यांनी मिळून गुढी वर उभारली.
“गुढी उंच का उभारतात?” सईने विचारले. आजोबा म्हणाले — “गुढी म्हणजे आपला विजयाचा झेंडा. जेव्हा आपण चांगले काम करतो, प्रामाणिक असतो — तेव्हा आपली गुढी मनात उंच उभी असते!”
सईने विचार केला. “मग मी शाळेत चांगला अभ्यास केला तर माझी गुढी उभी राहील?” आजोबा हसले — “अगदी बरोबर!”
त्या दिवशी सईने मनात ठरवले — “यंदाच्या नवीन वर्षात मी रोज मेहनत करेन. माझी गुढी नेहमी उंच राहील!”
संध्याकाळी सगळ्यांनी मिळून श्रीखंड-पुरी खाल्ली. नवीन वर्षाचे स्वागत झाले! 🚩✨
On Gudi Padwa morning, Sai woke up early. There was festive activity outside — the neighbour’s house already had a Gudhi raised.
“Grandfather, when will we raise our Gudhi?” Sai asked. Grandfather smiled — “Come, help me first.”
Grandfather brought the bamboo stick. Sai brought mango leaves. Mother wrapped the silk cloth. Father placed the kalash on top. Together they raised the Gudhi high.
“Why do we raise the Gudhi so high?” asked Sai. Grandfather replied — “The Gudhi is our flag of victory. When we do good work and stay honest — our Gudhi stands tall in our hearts!”
Sai thought — “If I study hard at school, will my Gudhi stand tall?” Grandfather smiled — “Exactly right!”
That day Sai decided — “This new year I will work hard every day. My Gudhi will always stand tall!”
In the evening everyone ate shrikhand-puri together. The New Year was welcomed! 🚩✨

भाऊ अंगणात रांगोळी काढतो. बहीण नवीन कपडे घालते.
आम्ही सगळे मिळून नवीन वर्षाचे स्वागत करतो. “नवीन वर्षाच्या शुभेच्छा!”
