होळी — Holi in Marathi for Kids
फार फार पूर्वी हिरण्यकश्यपू नावाचा एक दुष्ट राजा होता. तो स्वतःला देव मानत होता. त्याने सगळ्यांना फक्त त्याचीच पूजा करायला सांगितले.
पण त्याचा मुलगा प्रल्हाद हा भगवान विष्णूचा खूप मोठा भक्त होता. प्रल्हाद रोज विष्णूची पूजा करत असे. बाबाने लाख सांगितले तरी प्रल्हाद ऐकेना.
हिरण्यकश्यपूला खूप राग आला. त्याने आपली बहीण होलिका हिला सांगितले — “प्रल्हादला घेऊन अग्नीत बस! तुला अग्नी जाळत नाही.”
होलिकेला अग्नीपासून वाचवणारे वस्त्र होते. ती प्रल्हादला घेऊन अग्नीत बसली. पण भगवान विष्णूच्या कृपेने प्रल्हाद सुरक्षित राहिला आणि होलिका जळून गेली!
त्या दिवसापासून होलिका दहन होते — दुष्टपणा जळतो. दुसऱ्या दिवशी आनंदाने रंग खेळतो — हीच होळी! भक्तीचा विजय झाला!
The story of Holi: Long ago there was a cruel king named Hiranyakashyapu who considered himself a god and ordered everyone to worship only him.
But his son Prahlad was a devoted worshipper of Lord Vishnu and refused to stop praying to Vishnu despite his father’s anger.
The king asked his sister Holika — who had a magical cloth that protected her from fire — to sit in flames holding Prahlad.
But by Lord Vishnu’s grace, Prahlad was unharmed while Holika burned. Good defeated evil!
The night before Holi we burn a bonfire (Holika Dahan) to symbolise the burning of evil. The next day we play with colours — celebrating Prahlad’s victory and the triumph of good over evil!

होळीच्या आदल्या दिवशी रोहन आणि प्रिया दोघे भांडले होते. रोहनने प्रियाची रांगोळी चुकून पुसली. प्रिया रागावली. “मी उद्या तुझ्याशी होळी खेळणार नाही!”
रात्री होलिका दहन झाले. आजीने सगळ्यांना गोष्ट सांगितली — प्रल्हादची गोष्ट. “प्रल्हादने कधीही राग धरला नाही,” आजी म्हणाल्या. “त्याने देवावर विश्वास ठेवला आणि माफ केले.”
रोहनने प्रियाकडे बघितले. त्याला खूप वाईट वाटले. त्याने हळूच जाऊन सांगितले — “प्रिया, मला माफ कर. चुकून झाले.”
प्रिया थोडी शांत झाली. आजींनी सांगितले — “बघा! होलिका दहनात आपला राग पण जळाला! उद्या नवीन मनाने होळी खेळा!”
दुसऱ्या दिवशी रोहन आणि प्रिया एकत्र आले. रोहनने प्रियाला गुलाबी गुलाल लावला. प्रियाने रोहनला निळा रंग लावला. दोघे खळखळून हसले!
“होळी है!” दोघे एकत्र ओरडले. आनंद सगळीकडे पसरला. 🎨🔥✨
The day before Holi, Rohan and Priya had a fight. Rohan accidentally erased Priya’s rangoli. “I won’t play Holi with you tomorrow!” said Priya angrily.
That night, Grandmother told them Prahlad’s story. “Prahlad never held onto anger,” she said. “He trusted God and forgave.”
Rohan quietly went to Priya — “Priya, forgive me. It was an accident.”
Grandmother smiled — “See! In the Holika bonfire, your anger burned away too! Play Holi tomorrow with a fresh heart!”
Next day Rohan put pink gulal on Priya. Priya put blue colour on Rohan. Both burst out laughing. “Holi hai!” they shouted together. Joy spread everywhere. 🎨🔥✨

संध्याकाळी आम्ही ओला रंग धुतो. सगळे थकतात पण आनंदी असतात!
Today is Holi! Everyone plays with colours.
Brother takes the water gun (pichkari). Sister applies gulal (coloured powder).
Mother makes puran poli (sweet flatbread). Father applies colour to everyone.
Children dance and sing in the courtyard. “Holi hai!”
In the evening we wash off the wet colour. Everyone is tired but happy!
