ण हे खास आहे — ण is special!
Unlike ङ and ञ, ण actually does appear at the start of some Marathi words — like णव (an archaic form). However, in modern everyday Marathi, ण is almost always found in the middle or end of words, not at the start. Your child has already heard many words containing ण without knowing it!
🗣️ हा आवाज कसा काढायचा — How to make the ण sound

Say the English “n” — your tongue tip touches behind your top teeth. Now curl it back slightly. That deeper “N” sound is ण!

Say पाणी (paa-Nee, water) — the ण in the middle is this retroflex sound.

Your tongue is in the same position as ट, ठ, ड, ढ — curled back — that is why ण belongs to टवर्ग!
