The inherent vowel: अ is built into every Devanagari consonant automatically. क = क+अ → “ka” · ग = ग+अ → “ga” · त = त+अ → “ta”. When your child learns any consonant, they are already using अ — this is the single most useful idea in the lesson.
🔗 मात्रा — Why अ has no vowel mark
अ ला स्वतंत्र मात्रा नाही — unlike आ (ा), इ (ि) or ई (ी), the vowel अ has no separate mark, because it already lives inside every consonant. दुसरी मात्रा नसेल तर आपोआप अ-उच्चार होतो — when no other vowel mark is added, the consonant is read with an अ sound automatically.
